Building a ‘magic magnetic theater’ from a 1979 HP pen plotter driven by an RPi3. The pen here replaced by an electromagnet. Can track and move various objects that are placed on the (eventual) stage
Testing out a Raspberry Pi and LCD combo for a future handheld build using Sega’s Golden Axe.

Atari Centipede on my Freeplay CM-2. This is a Retropie emulator kit that is stuffed into a GBA case. Takes full advantage of the small form factor of the RPI CM-2 to fit in such a thin case.
Most of this project involved carving, cutting, and otherwise modifying a Nintendo Game Boy Advance case to fit this HW. Kind of like stuffing a Corvette engine in a VW bug. The result is one of the nicest RPI handhelds I’ve tried. Runs thousands of games on dozens of platforms, from 70s arcade all the way up through N64. All with the familiar, well designed GBA form-factor.
First computer I built in the 1970s only had a few LED lights, but there was such a sense of satisfaction when you wrote a program and they actually blinked!
40+ years later, it’s still magical for me when I repeat this using an Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
